Myths
Myth: Brushing once a day is enough
One good morning brush feels responsible. Then the day happens to your teeth, and the night finishes the job.
Why people believe it
Habit, hurry, and the feeling that a thorough single brush should surely count double. Plaque disagrees.
The truth
Brushing at least twice a day is the recommendation for good oral hygiene. Plaque reforms within hours of brushing, and overnight, when saliva flow drops, an unbrushed mouth becomes a bacteria incubator.
What to do instead
Brush morning and night with fluoride toothpaste, and floss once daily. The night brush is the one you should never trade away.
